Leaving Pokhara, the road leads toward Beni on smooth tarmac before gradually transforming into a rugged dirt track as you head deeper into the Annapurna region. Weather plays a strong role here, with dry conditions offering an exciting ride and rain turning sections into a true test of balance and focus. The pace slows naturally, allowing time to stop, breathe, and absorb the changing scenery. On arrival in Tatopani, permits are completed and the reward comes in the evening with a soak in the natural hot springs beside the Kali Gandaki River. Beyond Jomsom, the landscape changes again as vegetation thins and the terrain becomes stark and powerful. Crossing the Kali Gandaki on a suspension bridge marks the beginning of the climb toward Muktinath. The scenery feels lunar, with bare hills and vast skies creating a sense of isolation and freedom.
